Growing up a child, I was always fascinated with technology. I enjoyed taking apart TVs and radios just to find how they worked. My father worked as a computer technician, so I learned very quickly about how computers functioned, how they break, and eventually how to fix them. Our first home computer was a Vic-20, back in 1985.
In 2007, as a young adult, I travelled to San Francisco to take the Apple Certified Repair Training. This was a very thrilling experience for me, and hoped this training would lead me to a career in Computer Repair.
It just wasn’t my time yet...
As years went on, I continued to take online lessons, and repair computers for friends and family, while also working full time as an Assistant Operations Manager at Save on Foods in Nelson. In late 2019 I began buying broken MacBooks on eBay, repairing and selling them for extra cash. The next year I opened The Mac Guy, out of my home in Nelson, and got so busy I had to quit my full time, union job of almost 20 years to pursue my dream.
It feels good to be able to offer a local service to help people when something goes wrong with their tech. To connect and build lasting relationships with my customers. To feel confident that they can call me when they are frustrated with their iPhone or unsure about what Mac to buy.
